“Where Is My Mind” — The Pixies
“With your feet in the air and your head on the ground,” the Pixie’s track, “Where Is My Mind,” is a timeless classic from the 1988 album, Surfer Rosa. The track is a satiating song, whether your world is upside down and you’ve lost your mind — or not. With haunting guitar riffs and a bass line that easily gets stuck in your head, “Where Is My Mind” is quintessential grunge rock.
I’m sure I’m not the only one who hears this song and is reminded of the epic last scene in Fight Club … “you met me at a very strange time in my life.” I’ll say no more. The eerie, almost ethereal track will fill your imagination with thoughts of fantastic morbidity and mayhem — but maybe that’s just my inner Tyler Durden speaking.
