“Toes” – Lights | SOUND Summer Playlist

I once referred to Blessthefall’s lead singer Beau Bokan as having moved onto “significantly better things.” Well, that’s because he’s moved onto Lights’ Valerie Poxleitner — Canadian hottie and Sound Summer Playlist ’12 honoree.

But let’s pause here for a moment to acknowledge something extremely important. As far as celebrity crushes go, Lights has been mine (and the only one) since seeing a video of her in 2008. You guys have to read her Twitter: first of all, she responds to her fans frequently, meaning she’s a sweetheart. Second of all, she’s a HUGE nerd. She changed her frickin’ name to “Lights” for crying out loud. And she plays videogames and talks about comics and … *sigh*. Like, she easily outnerds me, which is a trait I cannot emphasize enough is extremely hot when the girl also plays synth. Oh, and I should probably also mention: she’s a total babe. Like, ugh, yes. Just look at her. Right now, I’m panting and wringing my hands the way girls do when you bring up Channing Tatum, except when Lights talks, it doesn’t sound like she’s fighting off an aneurism. Point being, I’m totally, completely in love.

Lights, it’s official — I love you.

But much to my own dismay and heartbreak, Lights’ Valerie Poxleitner became Lights’ Valerie Poxleitner Bokan a month ago, as she married the Blessthefall frontman. You don’t even understand how long it took me to write that last sentence. I need to stop typing now because I’m not sure my keyboard will function with all of these tears between the keys. But the musician is a babe, the music is lots of fun and your summer will be that much better with it on your iPod. I just can’t promise that you, too, won’t fall in love. Guard your hearts appropriately, boys.
