“As We Ran” — The National Parks

When we featured The National Parks — an indie folk band based out of Provo, UT – in March of last year, they had yet to play a live show or officially release a single track. It’s been nearly a year since that article, but after performing in cities across most of the western U.S. and releasing a debut album that reached #13 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart, The National Parks have lived up to the early hype.

The band’s most recent release, “As We Ran,” is an original track written for the first film in the National Park Experience: A Film Series (a short documentary film series that focuses on the stories of a diverse group of people that have been significantly impacted by America’s national parks). With the release of the single, the band also announced that the purchase of the song will help benefit the actual national parks. The band has offered to donate all their earnings from the first month of sales of “As We Ran” to the National Parks Conservation Association – a Washington D.C. based charity that has been working to protect and enhance America’s National Park System for over 95 years.

The track might be the best piece of music that the band has produced yet and the fact that the $1 dollar download goes to a good cause makes it a no-brainer.
