“Don’t Turn the Lights On” (Aeroplane Remix) – Chromeo | SOUND Summer Playlist

Last year’s playlist featured Canadian duo Chromeo, riding solo on one of their own tracks from 2007. They’re back again this year, but they’ve brought their friend from Aeroplane — a Belgian DJ specializing in French House music who dropped an album of his own in 2010.

This version of the tune has a definite “nighttime” vibe to it, both lyrically and musically, but should be good for any number of summertime scenarios regardless of hour. If the track just isn’t doing it for you, don’t press “next” until after the 3:00 minute mark, which features a pretty slick breakdown and keyboard solo that should have everyone in the place (or you in your headphones at your local coffee joint) nodding your heads rhythmically — it’s that catchy.
