“Civilian” — Wye Oak

If you’re anything like me, upon laying ears on a standout song and developing a deep love for it, you tend to play said tune on repeat for the next 30-36 hours until you’ve been completely shunned by the outside world and relegated to use headphones until your unhealthy fix is fully met (hypothetically speaking, of course). That being said, “Civilian” easily qualifies. It begins as a melancholy folk song, adds an element of indie vocal reverb, builds with a trotting beat and ends on a stirring crescendo. I guarantee you’ll be wearing headphones in no time.
