“Bad Girls” — M.I.A.
There’s really only one word to describe M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” music video — bada**. The hook is addictive and the Middle Eastern flair to the beat makes it the perfect song to dance to.
There’s something about M.I.A.’s music that just makes me want to do illegal stuff — and not just any illegal stuff, but something that has a purpose. Kind of like Zorro. M.I.A. told Nirali Magazine, “Nobody wants to be dancing to political songs. Every bit of music out there that’s making it into the mainstream is really about nothing. I wanted to see if I could write songs about something important and make it sound like nothing. And it kind of worked.”
The suggestive sounding nature of the lyrics in “Bad Girls” are probably suggesting something completely different than what you might be thinking. While my legal record (consisting of a slew of parking tickets) isn’t bada** in any way, I can still shake it like a bad girl while listening to M.I.A.
