“Aperture” — Sleeping At Last

A friend of mine introduced me to Sleeping At Last a couple of months ago, but I only recently started digging into the 12 month-themed EPs (there are 36 songs total).

I have a bit of a weakness for subtle, complex lyrical writing — maybe because I am myself incapable of it. I happened to be thinking about photography when the song started playing, so the first verse caught my attention. But listen carefully to the whole thing, because while the tune is sweet and simple enough, it’s the writing that gives the song its substance.
